SOLUTIONS FOR TRAFFICABLE ROOFS
When referring to roof waterproofing, the primary focus is on “flat” roofs with a substrate slope not exceeding 3% for walkable roof surfaces, and up to 7% for non-walkable roof surfaces. The waterproofing of such roofs depends on their intended use (whether they are walkable or not). There are many possible solutions, but all are based on one of these three types of materials:
-
Polyurethane coatings
-
Waterproofing (synthetic) membranes
-
Bituminous membranes
For these types of roofs, the top layer is designed as a wearing surface for pedestrian or vehicle traffic. Loaded roofs share characteristics with ballasted roof systems or green roofs (typical for non-walkable roofs). The advantages are:
-
Better utilization of space, increasing the building’s profitability coefficient by using the roof for parking, a restaurant, or other purposes;
-
The roofing layer is protected from aggressive external influences and mechanical damage;
